Call for Applications for 2023-2024
The New Frontiers Graduate Fellowships provide PhD students with a year of full-time research support, including a $38,000 stipend, up to $12,000 in tuition allowance, and an allocation of 50,000 node-hours on NCSA’s Delta computing system. Funding is provided by the National Science Foundation.
Applications are being accepted for fellowships to occur between August of 2023 and July of 2024. The deadline for applications is March 6, 2023 Anywhere on Earth (AoE). Recipients will be notified of acceptances and declinations by the end of May 2023.
To be considered, applicants must 1) be enrolled in a full-time PhD program at an accredited U.S. educational institution, 2) be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident by the time of the application deadline, and 3) be in the second or later year of their graduate program with a well-developed computational and/or data analytics research proposal. Applications from all disciplines will be accepted. Preference will be given to applicants engaged in geospatial and geointelligence research projects at scale that combine disciplines such as computer science, applied mathematics, and computational science applications.

We have extended the deadline for letters of reference – they must be submitted by Friday, March 10. Applicants are responsible for ensuring that letters of reference are submitted by the deadline. Two letters of reference are required for full consideration of each application.
